FOOD WASTE PREVENTION POLICY

As Bodrum International Hotel Management Inc.; as part of our sustainable tourism understanding, we accept reducing food waste as one of our priority goals. We aim to minimize food waste in terms of both our staff's daily needs and our guests' individual consumption. As a business that is environmentally conscious, uses resources efficiently and has social responsibility awareness, we take the necessary measures.

Our Application Areas:

  1. Planning and Procurement:
    • Food purchases for staff are planned according to current needs.
    • Local and seasonal products are preferred to ensure freshness and reduce environmental impacts from long-distance transportation.
  2. Proper Storage:
    • Purchased products are stored under appropriate conditions.
    • Products approaching their expiration date are consumed first.
  3. Evaluation of Excess Food:
    • Unused but edible foods can be shared with local animal shelters or farms.
  4. Recycling and Waste Management:
    • Organic wastes are evaluated by composting whenever possible.
    • When composting cannot be applied, separated wastes are given to animals.
  5. Training and Awareness:
    • Our staff is regularly informed about preventing food waste.
    • Our guests are provided with informational materials that will raise awareness about preventing waste in their own food and beverage consumption during their stay.
  6. Monitoring and Improvement:
    • Food wastes resulting from staff use are regularly monitored.
    • Measurements are made regarding food wastes and continuous improvement studies are carried out.
